Local Resident Gives Hermosa Beach Firefighters $10,000

The largest single donation in the history of the Firefighters Association, Michael Binder’s $10,000 donation will be used to purchase a grand prize in an upcoming charity fundraiser designed to involve the community of Hermosa Beach.

October 16, 2008 – Hermosa Beach, CA – Even in this wobbly economy, business owners in Hermosa Beach understand the age-old mantra, “It takes money to make money.” This is exactly what Michael Binder owner and operator of Altitude Aviation said as he handed a ten thousand dollar check to Hermosa Beach Firefighters Association President, Brian Grebbien on Wednesday.

The 18 members of the HBFA are in the process of designing a major fundraising event that will bring together community leaders, business owners and residents of Hermosa Beach, California.

Michael Binder and his wife Simone are active residents of Hermosa Beach and have several philanthropic interests, including a recent donation to Harbor UCLA’s Kids Clinic and an ongoing commitment to Rebuilding Together, an organization that provides free home repair and renovation programs for low-income, elderly and disabled people in San Francisco. The Binders were looking for a local, community-based project where they could be actively involved in the planning of the event and see direct results from their efforts. “The Firefighters are dedicated to the city and residents of Hermosa Beach and it’s an honor to co-sponsor a large scale fundraiser that ultimately, benefits the city we all love.”

Brian Grebbien, President of the Hermosa Beach Firefighters Association expressed his thanks, “We are grateful to all supporters and sponsors of the HBFA. The Binders and Altitude Aviation join a growing list of residents and businesses that support our on-going mission of providing quality service to the city of Hermosa Beach.”
